Abstract

Suture threads are used daily in surgical procedures throughout the world. These same words are selected according to the most popular ones in world literature as to their classification for particular characteristics of each one. However, there is no consensus in the literature regarding the classification of threaded suture threads. That is, it was difficult and divergent concepts for teachers and students to discuss and learn about the topic. Given this scenario, we are now asking you how to critically analyze the filamentary classification of this category. According to a supplementary literature review, we identified 42 positions regarding the classification of the thread as mono or multifilament.
