Abstract

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in autologous procedures, as shown by the constantly growing number of procedures performed with the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Platelet-rich plasma is widely used in many fields of medicine, such as: dermatology, orthopedics and sports medicine, maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, and gynecology. In aesthetic medicine, PRP is most often used for regenerative purposes, in anti-aging treatments, for the treatment of alopecia, acne scars, and post-traumatic scars, after surgical procedures as well as for ulcers, discolorations, and stretch marks. The use of PRP induces an increase in angiogenesis, neocollagenesis, and adipogenesis. The number of publications and scientific reports on autologous procedures with the use of platelet-rich plasma is constantly growing, confirming its beneficial regenerative effect in many fields of medicine, including dermatology and aesthetic dermatology.
