Abstract

Adaptive beam shaping transforms laser welding and additive manufacturing Adaptive laser beam shaping with a deformable mirror enables efficient energy and material usage in laser welding and additive manufacturing. European Union (EU) manufacturing companies increasingly build their business models on guaranteeing the performance of complex, high value products made from advanced alloys and produced under stringent quality requirements. Ensuring that these products meet demanding performance standards – while avoiding costly or dangerous failures – requires robust quality control and continuous development of more reliable, sustainable and cost effective manufacturing methods.
