Abstract

Hypomineralized enamel defects commonly present as a mottled white enamel appearance and may be accompanied by varying degrees of discrete yellow-brown intrinsic discoloration. A wide range of treatment modalities has been described for their management, including bleaching procedures, enamel reduction techniques, and restorative interventions. Among these, bleaching of hypomineralized enamel using 5% sodium hypochlorite applied in one to two sessions of 10–15 minutes each has been reported as a clinically effective approach. This conservative technique has demonstrated favorable outcomes in eliminating yellow-brown discolorations associated with hypomineralized lesions in young permanent teeth. Consequently, young permanent incisors exhibiting intrinsic yellow-brown discoloration can often be managed successfully using a simple, minimally invasive sodium hypochlorite bleaching protocol.
