DETERMINACIÓN DE LA SANIDAD DE SEMILLA ARTESANAL DE TRIGO (TRITICUM AESTIVUM L.) EN 5 ZONAS AGROECOLÓGICAS DE BOLÍVAR
Abstract
Abstract For this research, artisanal wheat seeds were collected from five areas of the Guaranda canton, without prior chemical treatment. The objectives were: To collect representative samples of artisanal wheat seeds in the five agroecological zones. To conduct phytopathological analyses in the laboratory to detect the presence of fungi, bacteria, and other pathogens associated with the seeds. To determine the percentage of infection and the incidence of seed diseases. To compare health levels among the different agroecological zones, identifying those with the greatest and least health problems. Parameters such as weight, impurities, germination, and phytosanitary quality were evaluated through laboratory analysis at the UEB (Bundesverwaltungsverwaltungen) and tests under controlled conditions, including the identification of pathogenic fungi such as Fusarium and Bipolaris. A DCA experimental design was applied, with five treatments with four replicates. Each treatment was considered a treatment for each location: T1: Illapa; T2: Verdepamba; T3: Susanga; T4: Panchigua; and T5: San Sebastián. The three main results obtained were: The percentage of Fusarium incidence and infection in artisanal seeds was highest in T1: Illapa, at 25.8%; while the lowest was in T4: Panchigua, at 7%. Comparing health levels across zones revealed that the highest risks of contamination and lower phytosanitary quality of seeds were in T1 and T2, with 31.8% and 21.8% infection rates; while the lowest incidence of health problems was in T4, at 10.5%.
