Abstract

In addition to the obvious causes of intracranial hypotension caused by cranial cerebrospinal fluid leakage, there are also cases of hypotension due to cerebrospinal fluid leakage into the epidural spaces of the spinal canal and paravertebral soft tissues. This is a fairly rare, but well-studied disease, which in the world literature has received the name “spontaneous intracranial hypotension”. This article presents a rare clinical case of intracranial hypotension that developed as a result of whiplash injury to the cervical spine, and its step-by-step diagnosis and surgical treatment, as well as a literature review on this theme
