Transcallosal subchoroidal approach for the resection of aqueductal tumor: clinical case description and surgical technique in pediatric patients
Abstract
Aqueductal gliomas represent an exceedingly rare pathology. Surgical treatment of these lesions is associated with a high risk of postoperative neurological deterioration due to their deep-seated location, complex accessibility, and the dense concentration of neural structures in the peri-aqueductal region. This article describes the surgical technique of radical resection of upper aqueductal tumors using the transcallosal subchoroidal approach in pediatric patients, which allows for complete preservation of midbrain function.
