Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the uses of composite materials in marine applications and their corrosion protection, mechanical characteristics as well as service life under marine conditions.Column II examines several approaches to the classification of composite materials such as polymer, metal, and ceramic matrix composites' advantages over conventional materials. This study also, responds to the issues affecting composites, for example, in the areas of production, its durability, and the environmental impacts of items like microplastics. The trends of future composite are explored discussing nanocomposites, self-healing composite, and sustainable composites. The paper underscores the applications of composites in enhancing marine technology and presents opportunities for additional research towards enhancing sustainability and performance in marine fields.
