CARNATIC MUSIC TUTOR: A CLOUD-BASED WEB AND MOBILE APPLICATION FOR REMOTE CARNATIC MUSIC EDUCATION
Abstract
The Carnatic Music Tutor project is a cloud-enabled, web-based application developed to transform traditional Carnatic music education into a digitally accessible format.Unlike conventional methods that require face-toface interactions, this platform allows for anytime, anywhere learning by offering students and tutors a shared digital space to interact, practice, and grow musically.Built using React for the frontend, and Firebase for both backend and database services, the system emphasizes real-time responsiveness, user-role segregation, and cloud scalability.Students can browse lessons uploaded by tutors, submit practice logs with remarks or audio links, and receive feedback.Tutors, in turn, can manage the lesson repository, monitor practice submissions, and provide structured, written feedback to guide student progress.Admins can add or remove users and manage the overall application environment. The system's architecture allows seamless data flow, easy extensibility for future features like AI-assisted feedback, and ensures that classical music learning remains disciplined yet flexible. The application thereby aims to preserve the integrity of Carnatic music while making it more approachable for modern learners.
