Design and Performance Analysis of Raspberry Pi Pico W Microcontroller for IoT Applications
Abstract
The IoT has transformed the manner in which devices communicate and interact and has provided unprecedented possibilities of smart systems in different fields. This paper will provide a complete design and performance analysis of the Raspberry Pi Pico W microcontroller as an inexpensive and useful platform to use in IoT applications.Raspberry Pi Pico W with the RP2040 dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ chip and in-built wireless connectivity is an attractive product in terms of processing power, low power usage, and low price. The experimental analysis of the software, its architecture, wireless communication functionality, and real-world performance measurements is performed. We are going to evaluate based on latency, power consumption analysis and throughput analysis in a variety of IoT applications such as environmental monitoring, home automation, and industrial sensing applications. The findings indicate that Pico W can record response times less than 100ms in normal IoT applications, less than 1.3mW in the sleep level, and approximately 50 meters on a stable WiFi connection. The study can be of great importance to developers and researchers who want to deploy scalable and efficient IoT applications based on the Raspberry Pi Pico W platform.
