Abstract

The transition to electric mobility in the commercial vehicle segment requires precise and efficient selection of core components, particularly the electric motor and battery system, to ensure optimal performance, range, and cost-effectiveness.This study focuses on the optimal selection of electric motors and batteries for electric commercial vehicles by considering key factors such as vehicle load capacity, duty cycle, power-to-weight ratio, energy efficiency, thermal management, and lifecycle costs.Various motor types, including permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), induction motors (IM), and switched reluctance motors (SRM), are analyzed in terms of their torque characteristics, efficiency, and cost.Similarly, different battery chemistries such as Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC), and Lithium Titanate (LTO) are compared for energy density, charging time, safety, and lifecycle.A multi-objective optimization approach is proposed to match motor and battery systems with vehicle application profiles-urban delivery, intercity logistics, or heavy-duty transport. The results provide guidelines for designing reliable and high-performance electric commercial vehicles, aiming to reduce operational costs and environmental impact while meeting regulatory and market demands
