Utilization of Eco friendly Industrial wastes as novel hydrophobic Agents for Gypsum Plaster
Abstract
The gypsum is widely used as an internal plastering medium in India, as well as in the other countries the gypsum is used as a plastering as well as a structural member. In India there is been a shortage of the natural river sand. So, the government of India banned the extraction of the natural sand from the reservoirs.Hence the gypsum plaster was used in the internal plastering. But in the W.C and bathroom this plastering cannot be used.Because the main disadvantage of the gypsum i.e., its low resistivity against the water. So, we need to increase the water resistivity of the gypsum. There are some chemicals available at the market for increasing the water resistance of the gypsum. But this increases the original cost of the gypsum, hence it becomes unaffordable. So, we planning to use some of the industrial waste products such as silicon dioxide powder, silica gel, glass powder which doesn't increase the cost of the gypsum but increase its water resistance property. In this we are planning to conduct some test like standard consistency, water absorption, etc. to find out the water resistivity of the gypsum.
