AI POWERED PHISHING EMAIL DETECTION TOOL
Abstract
Phishing is one of the most common and harmful cybersecurity threats. It uses trick emails to steal personal information by taking advantage of how people act.Traditional security measures like rule-based filters, blacklists, and signature-based systems often miss advanced or zero-day phishing attacks because attackers are always changing their tactics to get around static defences. This project shows an AI-based system that can tell if an email is real or fake by using Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP).The proposed system performs multi-layer analysis of email content, headers, hyperlinks, and metadata.Preprocessing techniques-such as text cleaning, tokenization, and feature extraction-prepare the data for classification.ML models including Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and LSTM-based deep learning architectures are trained on large labelled datasets to identify patterns characteristic of phishing attempts. The system focuses on achieving high accuracy while minimizing false positives and false negatives.Designed for adaptability, the model continuously learns from newly identified phishing samples, ensuring long-term robustness against evolving attack strategies. The final prototype can function as a standalone web application or integrate with existing email services, offering real-time alerts and explanations. This intelligent, scalable solution enhances email security and contributes to a safer digital communication environment
