Abstract

Booster is an important part of the hydraulic brake system, and its performance is mainly dependent on the available vacuum.Vacuum source may vary depending on engine types and vacuum pump.Naturally aspirated engines have lower vacuum level up to mid RPM range. Thus this affects the brake booster performance in lower engine RPM ranges significantly. To address this issue, vacuum can be stored in remote reservoir & vacuum from remote reservoir can be used to meet brake performance when the original vacuum source is depleted. This paper highlights integration of the vacuum tank within hydraulic brake systems to enhance the brake performance in braking application as and when needed.
