A REVIEW PAPER ON WIND TURBINE BLADE DESIGN
Abstract
Wind power is one of the most promising renewable energy sources and has emerged as a major contributor to sustainable electricity generation. With rapid technological advancements in the energy sector, there is a continuous demand to improve the energy efficiency, structural reliability, and service life of wind turbines.Among all turbine components, the wind turbine blade plays a crucial role in converting wind energy into mechanical energy. Most commercial wind turbines employ horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWTs), which are highly sensitive to overspeed and structural loading conditions. This review paper focuses on the design and structural analysis of wind turbine blades using advanced composite materials such as E-glass, S-glass, aramid, carbon-epoxy, and graphene-based composites under static loading conditions.Modern design and simulation tools such as CATIA V5 for geometric modeling and ANSYS Workbench for structural analysis are discussed.Key performance parameters including total deformation, equivalent von Mises stress, maximum shear stress, and strain energy are reviewed. The study highlights the importance of material selection and numerical analysis in enhancing blade performance and durability.
