Abstract

Due to the garbage accumulation, blocked drains, poor sanitation, and poor maintenance of roads, waste management has become one of the most serious problems in urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. The improper ways of waste disposal result in environmental pollution, health hazards, and degradation of the living conditions on the whole. While the municipalities and Nagar Palika are responsible for maintaining cleanliness, there is generally a lack of direct communication between citizens and the authorities, which results in delayed actions and unresolved complaints. This research paper brings forth a web-based smart waste management platform that will increase the efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of waste management systems. The portal will allow users to upload real-time images of waste and other municipal-related problems along with GPS-based location details, thereby making the complaint reporting process more accurate and faster. Our team monitors the complaints through an administrative dashboard where every report is verified for the authenticity determination of the issue. In case the complaint is found genuine, it gets marked as 'verified' and forwarded to the nearest municipal authority for the fastest possible action.Thereafter, it will be the priority of the concerned Municipal Corporation or Nagar Parishad to take quick action, track the progress, and get the problem resolved as soon as possible. The proposed system copes well with active public participation and plays an important role in building a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.
