SHERO: IOT AND AI BASED WOMEN SAFETY ANDROID APPLICATION
Abstract
Women's safety has emerged as a major societal concern due to the increasing number of harassment and violence incidents. Many existing safety applications depend heavily on manual SOS activation and continuous internet availability, which may not function effectively during critical situations. This research presents SHERO, an intelligent IoT-based women safety Android application that combines an ESP32 microcontroller with a Kotlin-based mobile platform to provide fast and dependable emergency assistance. The system operates using Bluetooth communication, GPS-based location retrieval, and SMS services, enabling alert transmission even in offline conditions. To enhance reliability and minimize false alerts, lightweight on-device artificial intelligence techniques are employed for voice-based distress recognition, movement anomaly detection, and intelligent emergency validation.Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the proposed system offers improved response time, dependable alert delivery, and enhanced usability when compared to conventional safety solutions.SHERO provides a practical, privacy-aware, and intelligent framework for realtime personal safety applications.
