Abstract

The traditional static wind-induced deflection analysis method is usually used to evaluate the effectiveness of counterweight-type control measures in overhead line design. To study the effect of counterweights on the dynamic wind-induced deflection of the insulator string, considering the influence of conductor swing and aerodynamic damping, a nonlinear dynamic calculation model for the wind-induced deflection of overhead lines under strong wind conditions is established on the basis of reasonable equivalence.By plotting the dynamic wind-induced deflection time-history curve of the insulator string, comparing the wind-induced deflection motion characteristics and wind-induced deflection probability density curves under the action of different counterweight masses, the effectiveness of counterweight-type control measures in suppressing the dynamic wind-induced deflection of the insulator string is analyzed. The results show that the nonlinear characteristics of wind-induced deflection motion can cause high-frequency and low-amplitude motion of the insulator string itself, which cannot be considered by the traditional static wind-induced deflection analysis method.Although the installation of a 30 kg counterweight can reduce the mean wind-induced deflection angle, the maximum wind-induced deflection angle does not decrease due to the increase in the motion amplitude of the insulator string. When wind-induced deflection is controlled by counterweight-type control measures, a counterweight mass greater than 60 kg is relatively appropriate.
