Comparative body composition and health status of premenopausal And postmenopausal aged women (30-60 years)
Abstract
This study aims to compare body composition and health parameters between premenopausal and postmenopausal women aged 30-60 years.A cross-sectional analysis was conducted on 76 women, divided equally into premenopausal aged (30-45 years) and postmenopausal aged (46-60 years) groups.Various body composition parameters such as body fat percentage, fat-free mass, visceral fat, protein, minerals, total body water, skeletal muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, and overall body composition score were assessed.Additionally, health status indicators including weight changes, dietary intake, nutritional deficiencies, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), and gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms were evaluated. Results indicated no significant differences in individual body composition and health parameters between groups, except for the overall Body Composition Analysis (BCA) score, which was significantly poorer in postmenopausal women. The findings suggest that menopause influences overall body composition deterioration but has limited impact on individual parameters. The high prevalence of elevated body fat and visceral fat in both groups, though higher in the postmenopausal cohort, indicates a need for targeted interventions regardless of statistical significance. These insights underscore the importance of holistic assessment and need for comprehensive health strategies tailored in managing health in menopausal women.
