3D Printing in Pharmaceutical Drug Delivery: Diabetes
Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that requires long-term and precise drug administration to maintain optimal glycaemic control and prevent complications.Conventional pharmaceutical dosage forms often fail to address patient-specific needs, leading to poor adherence and suboptimal therapeutic outcomes.Three-dimensional (3D) printing has emerged as a transformative technology in pharmaceutical sciences, offering unprecedented flexibility in designing personalized drug delivery systems [1].This report explores the application of 3D printing in the development of drug delivery systems for diabetes management. It discusses printing technologies, printable materials, and design strategies relevant to antidiabetic therapies. In addition, the report highlights current challenges, regulatory considerations, and future prospects, emphasizing the role of 3D printing in advancing personalized and precision medicine for diabetes care.
