Linking Green Finance and Firm Value: A Review of Literature
Abstract
Green finance refers to a system of fiscal instruments, requests, and programs that conduct capital into environmentally sustainable conditioning while managing climate-related pitfalls and supporting long-term profitable growth. It includes green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, green equity, ESG and impact finances, carbon requests, and climate-threat insurance, supported by public impulses similar as subventions, duty benefits, and development finance.enterprises borrow green finance due to nonsupervisory pressures, climate threat operation, stakeholder prospects, and strategic competitiveness in a low-carbon transition.establishment value impacts are assessed through request-grounded criteria (e.g., stock returns, Tobin's Q, valuation rates) that capture investor prospects, and account-grounded criteria (e.g., ROA, ROE, perimeters) that reflect realized performance, together indicating whether anticipated benefits materialize.Multiple propositions explain these goods stakeholder proposition points to legality and reduced conflict; signaling proposition highlights believable communication of quality; resource-grounded proposition emphasizes green capabilities and invention; agency proposition stresses governance alignment; institutional proposition links relinquishment to nonsupervisory and social pressures; and pecking order proposition suggests lower information asymmetry and backing costs. An intertwined view shows that green finance creates value through better stakeholder relations, believable signals, distinctive capabilities, governance alignment, legality, and reduced cost of capital, though issues vary across enterprises and surrounds, taking careful dimension to distinguish continuing value from temporary sentiment.
