ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON THE SKIN EFFECT IN ELECTRICAL PANEL BUS BARS
Abstract
Busbars are the main components of electrical panels, whose function is to safely conduct high currents from the electrical power input of a facility to the various internal circuits. To this end, safety refers to the maximum operating temperature of the busbars, which must be lower than that specified in the standard.Among the main factors that influence the temperature of busbars in operation is the skin effect. This work aims to analyze the interdependence between the skin effect and the operating temperature of the conductor, which is rarely available in the literature. Both how much this effect influences the operating temperature of a busbar, as well as how much the operating temperature influences the skin effect itself. To this end, this study uses data from experiments designed to allow comparison with theoretical analysis, supported by theoretical computer simulation data, developed from the classical literature on the subject. The result obtained is that, although the skin effect significantly influences the operating temperature of a busbar, the influence of the operating temperature is not as significant in the manifestation of the skin effect in busbars at 60 Hz.
