NIGHT VISION PATROLLING ROBOT USING ESP32 AND YOLO
Abstract
This paper presents the development of a low-cost autonomous night vision patrolling robot designed for surveillance in low-light environments. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller for motor control, sensor integration, and wireless communication, while an ESP32-CAM module with an infrared LED enables night vision imaging.Live video is transmitted via Wi-Fi to an external processing unit where the YOLO deep learning model performs real-time object detection.By offloading computationally intensive tasks from the robot to an external system, the design improves performance, battery efficiency, and scalability. The robot supports autonomous navigation, real-time threat detection, and alert generation, making it suitable for security applications in industrial, residential, and remote areas at a significantly lower cost than conventional surveillance systems.
