A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON NOVEL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR TARGETED CANCER THERAPY
Abstract
Cancer is still one of the world's leading causes of death, even with major improvements in treatment invest compliance are some of the drawbacks of traditional cancer treatment methods like chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. The creation of innovative drug delivery systems (NDDS) with the goal of enhancing therapeutic efficacy while reducing side effects is a result of these difficulties.Novel drug delivery systems provide improved pharmacokinetic profiles, protected active pharmaceutical components, regulated and targeted drug release, and increased bioavailability.Numerous carrier-based systems have demonstrated encouraging outcomes in targeted cancer therapy, including dendrimers, polymeric micelles, noisome, liposomes, nanoparticles, and nanoemulsions. These methods reduce harm to healthy cells by delivering anticancer medications to tumour tissues selectively using passive and active targeting techniques. This review offers a thorough analysis of cancer histology, the shortcomings of traditional treatments, and the most recent developments in innovative drug delivery methods for the targeted treatment of cancer. In order to emphasise their potential contribution to bettering clinical results, the benefits, difficulties, and prospects of NDDS in cancer treatment are also examined.
