Decentralized Medical Health Record Management System
Abstract
Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems have become widely used due to the quick digitisation of healthcare services. However, the majority of current solutions rely on centralised architectures that have serious flaws like single points of failure, poor interoperability, risks of data tampering, and a lack of true patient ownership. In order to overcome these constraints, a decentralised medical health record management system utilising blockchain technology is presented in this paper. It is intended to offer safe, open, and patient-focused healthcare data management. The suggested system makes use of the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) for offchain storage of large medical documents, smart contracts created in Solidity for fine-grained access control, and the Ethereum blockchain for decentralised transaction processing.Ganache is used for local blockchain deployment and testing, while MetaMask handles wallet-based mechanisms for authentication and transaction authorisation.Patients, physicians, and diagnostic facilities are the three main stakeholders supported by the Tdxcvbhe system. Each is identified by a distinct Healthcare Hash (HH) Number that is mapped to a blockchain wallet address.Through smart contracts, patients can explicitly grant or revoke access permissions to healthcare providers while maintaining complete ownership of their medical data. The blockchain ensures auditability and data integrity by immutably recording all interactions, including record uploads, access grants, and updates. The suggested method removes the need for centralised authorities, builds participant trust, and establishes a solid basis for consent-driven, safe, and interoperable healthcare information systems that meet future legal requirements.
