Smart Finder and Recovery Management System for Lost Items

Lost item recovery and missing person identification are critical challenges in public places, institutions, and urban environments.Conventional lost-and-found mechanisms are largely manual, fragmented, and timeconsuming, which significantly reduces recovery success rates.This paper presents a Smart Finder & Recovery Management System, a secure web-based platform designed to manage reports related to both lost items and missing persons through a centralized digital framework.The proposed system enables users to register, submit detailed reports with image support, track report status, and securely communicate within the system.An administrator module verifies reports, manages records, and ensures authenticity, particularly in missing person cases.The system follows a three-tier client-server architecture using React.jsfor the frontend, Node.js and Express.js for backend services, and MongoDB for database management.JWT-based authentication and role-based access control enhance system security.The platform improves transparency, reduces manual dependency, and increases recovery efficiency.
