Real-time accident and smoke prevention using arduino
Abstract
Road accidents are a major cause of fatalities due to delayed emergency response and a lack of intelligent safety systems. This paper presents an Arduino-based accident-detection and prevention system integrated with IoT to enhance vehicle and driver safety. The proposed model employs multiple sensors, such as an accelerometer, alcohol sensor, eye-blink sensor, fire sensor, and ultrasonic sensor, along with GPS and GSM modules for location tracking and instant alert communication. When an accident or abnormal condition is detected, the system automatically sends an SMS with GPS coordinates to emergency contacts, enabling a quick rescue response.Additionally, preventive features such as alcohol and drowsiness detection reduce accident probability. The system is low-cost, portable, and suitable for all vehicle types.Experimental results demonstrate reliable performance in real-time scenarios, proving its effectiveness in minimising fatalities and improving road safety through immediate detection and reporting.
