DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF MINI AUTOMATED TOWER BRIDGE MODEL
Abstract
The Mini Tower Bridge model is a small-scale representation of a bascule bridge mechanism designed for educational and demonstration purposes. This project integrates civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering concepts to simulate the working of a movable bridge system. The model uses a DC motor, pulley mechanism, hinges, counterweights, and Arduino-based control for lifting and lowering the central span. The working principle is based on torque transmission and load balancing using counterweights. The system includes limit switches and LED indicators for control and safety demonstration. The model effectively illustrates structural behavior, automation concepts, and interdisciplinary engineering integration. This project serves as a costeffective prototype for understanding movable bridge systems and smart infrastructure applications.
