FLOOR CLEANING ROBOT
Abstract
This project presents the design and development of an IR controlled floor cleaning robot integrated with an obstacle detection system. The robot is controlled using an IR remote through a TSOP1738 receiver and is driven by DC motors using a BTS7960 motor driver. An ultrasonic sensor mounted on a servo motor is used to detect obstacles in front and on either side of the robot, enabling automatic direction changes to avoid collisions. The cleaning mechanism consists of two rotating mops driven by 60 RPM DC motors supplied directly from the battery, allowing continuous floor cleaning during movement. The Arduino microcontroller acts as the central control unit, processing input signals from the IR receiver and ultrasonic sensor and generating control signals for the motor driver and servo motor. The proposed system reduces human effort in floor cleaning and demonstrates a low-cost, efficient solution suitable for domestic and small commercial applications
