Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become an essential component of our lives, growing from a convenience to a necessity.IoT has been used extensively through cloud computing and has been proven to be an efficient technology in various fields. The data collected from IoT devices is sent to the cloud for processing and storage. However, this technique also faces a number of problems, such as latency, energy consumption, computing resources, bandwidth, devices, storage, and network issues. To overcome the problems associated with this technique, a new intermediary layer, called fog computing. Before transmitting data to the cloud, fog computing gathers and processes it nearby to the user. This kind of cloud platform provides comparable data processing, data storage, and application services. However, it functions in a decentralized fashion. The study presents a comprehensive overview of fog computing and IoT in this paper. The study outlines the architecture of fog computing and look at its many uses and advantages.Recent research that focuses on data management, operational issues, security hurdles, and service issues is used to address fog computing. The functional and fundamental problems in fog computing serve as the foundation for the taxonomy explanation standard.Researchers pinpoint problems and possible uses.According to the review, researchers have particular difficulties with security, privacy, application, and communication.
