Abstract

Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection, caused by the dengue virus (DENV) and transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes remains a significant global public health challenge, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of dengue, focusing on its epidemiology, virology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic approaches, treatment strategies, vaccine development, and prevention measures. The increasing burden of dengue underscores the need for effective surveillance, early diagnosis, and vector control strategies. Recent advancements in vaccine research and antiviral therapies have shown promise, yet challenges remain in achieving widespread immunity and controlling outbreaks. By analyzing recent literature and WHO reports, this article highlights current gaps in knowledge and potential areas for future research. Understanding dengue’s transmission dynamics and implementing integrated management strategies are crucial in mitigating its impact.
