Critical Thinking Disposition of Prospective Mathematics Teacher in Solving Mathematics problem
Abstract
Someone who is involved in the process of truth-seeking and open-mindedness is an indication of that person's critical behavior when responding to problems encountered. This study aims to determine the behavioral tendencies of prospective mathematics teachers in solving problems, namely questions containing contradictory information and incomplete questions, based on the indicators of truth-seeking and open-mindedness. This study is qualitative in nature with an exploratory descriptive methodology. The subjects of this study consisted of 15 prospective mathematics teachers. Data were collected through tests, direct observation, and interviews. To ensure the validity and reliability of the study, triangulation techniques were used. This technique compares the results of direct observation with the results of tests and interviews. The findings and conclusions obtained indicate that all prospective mathematics teachers do not yet possess critical thinking dispositions related to truth-seeking behavior. The research subjects did not investigate the truthfulness of the information in the questions provided and tended to answer the questions directly
