Abstract

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the potential of the ASAP1 gene as a genetic biomarker for brucellosis resistance/susceptibility in goats. METHODS: This study collected samples from female Shaanbei white cashmere (SBWC) goats to investigate the association between the ASAP1 gene and brucellosis susceptibility. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated from goats with various haplo types and Brucella statuses, and the association was evaluated using polymerase chain re action (PCR), quantitative reverse transcription (qRT)-PCR, and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation assays. RESULTS: The ASAP1 gene was expressed most in th e spleen, significantly more than in the kidney and heart (p
