Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of cranial measurements derived from computed tomography (CT) scans for sex estimation in a western Indian population. Using a sample of 300 adult individuals, 10 cranial measurements were analyzed through discriminant function analysis (DFA). Following multivariate testing and model validation, the final classification model achieved 87.0% accuracy on original cases and 84.3% under cross-validation. Cranial base length and maximum cranial breadth were the most predictive variables. These findings support the utility of CT-based morphometric analysis for forensic sex estimation and underscore the importance of population-specific standards in anthropological identification.
