Cleft Palate
Abstract
Cleft palate is one of the most common congenital facial differences. A thorough understanding of its embryological development, anatomical principles, and epidemiological patterns is essential for effective diagnosis and management. This chapter provides an insight into cleft palate, including its aetiology, incidence, classification, and the multidisciplinary approach required for optimal patient care. It describes in detail the evolution of cleft palate repair and current gold standard of care with relevant references and would be a useful read for any surgeon interested in cleft surgery, as well as plastics, maxillofacial and ENT trainees preparing for exams.
