Pharmacy Practice in HIV Management and Prevention: Current Implementations and Strategies
Abstract
Pharmacists are integral members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, playing pivotal roles in the continuum of HIV care and prevention. Their clinical expertise in pharmacotherapy, medication management, and patient education enables them to support both individual treatment outcomes and public health goals. As access to antiretroviral therapy (ART) and prevention services expands, pharmacists serve as accessible healthcare providers who ensure rational drug use, adherence support, and optimization of therapeutic regimens. Their evolving scope now includes patient-centered interventions, health promotion, and participation in policy and community-based programs aimed at controlling HIV transmission and improving quality of life for people living with HIV (PLWH).
