Abstract

This chapter presents a comprehensive approach to integrating interactive learning opportunities and artificial intelligence (AI)-generated assessment in undergraduate medical education. It addresses the challenge of teaching non-technical skills – such as professionalism, communication, and ethical behavior – by utilizing video-based scenarios and structured feedback mechanisms, including the analysis of unprofessional conduct. The chapter further explores the development of AI-assisted, computer-based testing (CBT) materials enriched with video and audio content. It introduces methods for generating examination items and providing formative feedback on free-text responses using large language models (LLMs). Real-world case studies from Japan demonstrate how scalable and reflective learning experiences can be enhanced using digital tools.
