Abstract

The chapter addresses the issue of the reuse of research data. Starting with the processing of theoretical foundations and a description of the current state of knowledge, it progresses to the presentation of the results of its own empirical research. The thesis introduces areas such as research data in general and their reuse within open science. Finally, attention is also given to the challenges associated with sharing and reusing research data. As part of the empirical investigation, the authors aim to examine the attitudes of the professional public toward the sharing and reuse of research data. The results of the analysis indicate that the professional public is aware of the importance of reusing research data. Among the main motivations for making data available, respondents cited the support of open science, the development of scientific collaboration, and the increase in the visibility and citation of their own research. Understanding these motivators is the key to further exploring the topic. The findings are compared with the initial theses identified in the description of the state of knowledge. The chapter aspires to contribute to a better understanding of the issue of creating and sharing knowledge. In the knowledge economy, knowledge is the key variable for generating competitiveness, whether in the form of short-term benefits or through complex relationship ecosystems based on CRM.
