Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the mental health of medical students while also accelerating the digital transformation of medical education. Based on a summary of previous research, this chapter utilizes a large-sample cross-sectional online survey of Chinese medical students to reveal that positive coping can alleviate posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) during the COVID-19 pandemic through the mediating role of social support. This chapter aims to move beyond mere phenomenological description and explore how, in the post-COVID-19 era, this empirical finding – combined with previous research – can be translated into concrete practices within the paradigm of digital medical education. We will elaborate on how to leverage online learning platforms, virtual simulation technologies, and digital mental health support systems to foster medical students’ positive coping abilities and construct their social support networks in a standardized, personalized, and systematic manner. This will ultimately establish a future-oriented, integrated framework for cultivating psychological resilience in medical students, thereby providing theoretical foundations and practical pathways for medical humanities education in the digital era.
