Hot Compression Test Data Repository for Inconel 625 at Various Temperatures and Strain Rates: Raw Experimental Data, Temperature- and Strain Rate-Corrected Data, and Physically-Based Constitutive Model-Fitted Data
Abstract
This dataset contains hot compression test data for the Inconel 625 superalloy, conducted at four temperatures: 900°C, 1000°C, 1100°C, and 1150°C, and five strain rates: 0.005, 0.01, 0.1, 1, and 5 s-1. The experiments were performed on axisymmetric compression specimens with nominal dimensions of 8 mm in diameter and 12 mm in height, using a Gleeble 3500 thermomechanical simulator under controlled temperature and strain rate conditions. Raw experimental measurements include time, force, displacement, specimen temperature, strain, and stress, recorded during tests conducted under constant temperature and strain rate conditions. These data were then processed to account for effects caused by adiabatic heating and variations in strain rate throughout the tests. Both raw and corrected datasets are provided. The corrected results were then used to characterize the flow stress behavior of Inconel 625 as a function of strain rate and temperature. This was modeled using a physically-based constitutive law that includes key deformation mechanisms such as work hardening, dynamic recrystallization, and the evolution of the recrystallized volume fraction. The fitted data and associated constitutive parameters are also provided. This extensive repository enables the rigorous analysis and modeling of high-temperature plastic deformation in Inconel 625, promoting the reproducibility and validation of constitutive models. Furthermore, it is a valuable tool for designing and optimizing components, as well as for enhancing predictive simulations of manufacturing processes such as hot forging and thermomechanical treatments. It also supports the advancement of constitutive models integrating microstructural changes and fundamental deformation mechanisms.
