Dataset from a study collecting word learning measures to investigate the cognitive mechanisms involved in word learning in kindergarten students from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Abstract
These data were collected to investigate the time course of word learning in kindergarten children from low socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds in order to better understand the cognitive mechanisms underlying vocabulary learning in this population. The dataset comprises the performance of 5-year-old children from low-SES backgrounds on word learning tasks measuring different word knowledge dimensions (word production, word recognition, semantic association, and phonological judgement) following a three-week vocabulary intervention at three time points: immediately, 24 hours, and multiple days post-intervention.
