Evaluation of biogas digestate and dairy farm effluent applications on ryegrass growth in a glasshouse pot experiment

A glasshouse pot experiment was conducted at AgResearch Ruakura, (Hamilton, New Zealand) to evaluate the effects of biogas digestates on ryegrass growth, compared to untreated dairy farm effluent. The trial aimed to generate experimental data to support improved management, utilisation, and valuation of biogas digestates in pastoral systems. Specifically, the study assessed plant growth responses to different effluent types and nitrogen (N) application rates, providing evidence relevant to both agronomic performance and future field-scale recommendations.Report No: RE450/2025/077
