Abstract

The world has stepped into the twenty-first century an age that places children at the very heart of social, educational, and national development. Today, children are not merely learners in classrooms; they are the future citizens who will shape the destiny of the nation. Their ideas, values, emotions, and behaviors will determine how society grows and progresses in the years to come. Among them, high school students occupy a particularly important stage of life. Physically, they are moving toward maturity, yet emotionally and psychologically, they are still in the process of finding balance and stability. At this age, they often experience confusion, pressure, and rapid changes in their thoughts and feelings. As a result, their problems are unique and require sensitive understanding and careful study. Recognizing the significance of this developmental phase, the researcher undertook the present study to explore and understand the behavioral problems of secondary school students. The aim was not merely to collect data, but to gain deeper insight into the challenges faced by adolescents in their everyday academic and social lives. For this purpose, a total of 1,832 students from 32 secondary schools in Ahmedabad city were selected through a random sampling method. Due consideration was given to important factors such as gender, type of school, and academic standard, to ensure a balanced and representative sample. To assess behavioral problems, the researcher developed and used a self-constructed behavioral problem tool, carefully designed to reflect the real experiences of students. The collected data were analyzed using percentage and weighted mean methods, enabling a clear and meaningful interpretation of the findings. Through this study, the researcher seeks to contribute to a better understanding of adolescent behavior and to support educators, parents, and policymakers in creating a more nurturing, supportive, and responsive educational environment for students.
