Abstract

Metrology of internal structures is required for additive manufacturing (AM) series production parts in industry. Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) can no longer be used for such complex geometries. One need to use X-ray Computed Tomography (XCT) not anymore only for non-destructive testing, but also for metrology. Each time a new method is emerging, it has to be framed by a standard to be largely used in industry. Therefore, LNE, in collaboration with Safran, have submitted a preliminary draft standard (ISO/ASTM AWI 52971 Additive manufacturing — Non-destructive testing and evaluation— Guideline for dimensional measurements based on cone beam X-ray Computed Tomography) to ISO TC261/ASTM F42 dedicated to AM, on 13/06/2025. The methodology proposed in this preliminary draft is presented in this paper.
