Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime on December 8, 2024, on the newly emerging power dynamics in Syria and their implications for Turkey’s Syria policy. The fall of the Assad regime has brought about strategic shifts in Turkey’s security and diplomatic approaches. The study provides a comprehensive examination of Turkey’s military operations in the Syrian civil war, debates surrounding international law and human rights, and the diplomatic tensions experienced with global actors such as the United States, Russia, and the European Union. In addition, it addresses Turkey’s policies towards Syrians under temporary protection and the domestic political repercussions of these policies. By assessing the opportunities and challenges created for Turkey following the regime’s collapse, the article discusses potential future scenarios from a multidimensional perspective.
