Serological profile of Chikungunya in the Abidjan district (Cte Divoire)
Abstract
Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection is a public health problem due to the presence of mosquito vectors in tropical areas such as Côte d'Ivoire. However, data on virus circulation and epidemiology in the population are scarce, making it difficult to implement health policies. The objective of this study was to detect the chikungunya virus and describe the epidemiological profile, identifying areas of proliferation within the Abidjan District, Côte d'Ivoire, from July 2022 to October 2022. Sera from Yellow fever and Dengue surveillance, diagnosed negative by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), were used to search for IgM antibodies. A total of eight positive cases out of 674 (1.18%) presented CHIKV Immunoglobulin M. The most affected age groups were adults aged 25 to 59 years, followed by individuals over 60 years. A predominance of positive cases was observed in women. The Cocody Bingerville area had the highest number of positive cases. This study reveals the circulation of the CHIKV with a predominance among adults. Key words: Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ELISA), Abidjan.
