Remembering War: A Corpus Based Comparison of Palestinian and Jewish Novel through the Lens of New Historicism
Abstract
This research aims to study the collocates for the key words “war “and “homeland “in the novel Mornings in Jenin (2006) and The Tale of Love (1988), and explores the treatment of the selected words in the light of New Historicism’s claim that fantasies of any age affect the writing process and that historical narrative is inherently subjective. The study finds by looking closely at the collocates of the selected words that same events have been recalled under the impact of their ideological allegiances. It has also been observed that semi-autobiographical account des also reflect impact of the socio-political situation triggered by 2nd Intifada (Palestinian uprising of 2000).
