Cultural Change and Identity Negotiation among University Youth in the Digital Age: A Cultural Anthropological Study
Abstract
The findings reveal that the Pakistan communities residing in the ecology regions of varying locations have developed a number of adaptive mechanisms that are anchored on the knowledge of the natives, interpersonal relations, and the historical experience. The strategies indicate human resilience to climate uncertainty; altered agricultural activity in the Indus plains, pastoral migration in arid regions, community-based water management in hilly regions, and livelihood diversification in coastal regions. However, the paper equally notes that the adaptive capacity is also uneven in terms of the marginalized groups bearing disproportionate impact of the climate change attack through social inequality, economic problem, institutional ineffectiveness, etc. This piece of work ends with the significance of anthropology in climate change research and policy. To develop adaptive strategies that are inclusive and sustainable, anthropology may supply the required information to preempt the voices of the locals, the cultural knowledge structures, and the social realities. The paper finds that the adaptation of climate in Pakistan should be anchored on the integration of the community-based knowledge and the scientific methods, the issues of structural inequalities should be addressed, and the institutions in Pakistan should be strengthened. It is not just a strategy that may be used to build resilience, but it would also contribute to the social fairness of climate responses, cultural appropriateness, and responsiveness to the actual lives of those who are the most vulnerable due to the climate change.
