Abstract
Faced, since the very beginning of its existence, with a series of obstacles related to personnel, organization and space, the Music Cabinet of the Romanian Academy Library, as we know it today, supported by the potential of its rich collection that will take shape over the years, will become a unique source of Romanian musical culture and an exhaustive source of information for historical and musicological research. The article highlights the role played by the organization of the main collections that constitute the Cabinet's collection and the way they have been exploited, in shaping its status as an important source for musicological research.
