Abstract

The institution of contraventional sanctions plays a distinct role in contraventional legislation and the theory of contraventional law. Specifically, the application of contraventional sanctions transforms contraventional law into a tool for influencing social processes and regulating individuals" behavior. As such, the contraventional sanction has been, is, and remains a genuine instrument for upholding the law and combating contraventions. In the historical contraventional legislation of the Republic of Moldova, the system of sanctions did not include unpaid community service as a contraventional penalty. The introduction of unpaid community service, inspired by the legal systems of certain European countries, broadens the spectrum of societal responses to individual and social misconduct of a contraventional nature.
